Description

Emily Kimathi is a Geospatial Research officer at the International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) based in Nairobi, Kenya. She has a vast experience on the use of GIS, Earth observation and Geospatial modelling tools to enhance crop insect pest risks monitoring and early warning systems for integrated pest management. She holds a master’s degree in Climate change and adaptation, a bachelor's degree in Bachelor of Arts (Geography) and postgraduate diploma in Project Management. She recently published a research paper on “Prediction of breeding regions for the desert locust in East Africa” in scientific reports, Nature journal (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-68895-2#Abs1). The paper has been accessed over 7000 times.
