What does it take to become the first human to swim under the Antarctic ice sheet wearing nothing but a cap, goggles, and Speedos? On the Edge follows endurance swimmer and UNEP Patron of the Oceans Lewis Pugh in his toughest swim ever. Antarctica contains nearly 70% of the planet's fresh water and 90% of the planet's freshwater ice, but humans are causing the degradation of its marine ecosystem and beyond, contributing to climate change that impacts the entire world.
Take action with On the Edge:
In January 2020, Lewis Pugh set out to Antarctica to carry out a series of record-breaking swims across some of the 65,000 supraglacial lakes on top of the melting East Antarctic ice sheet. Lewis is urging leaders to act on the climate crisis and continue building a network of marine protected areas around Antarctica. Learn more at: www.lewispughfoundation.org #Antarctica2020
