Description

Damaris is a plant geneticist at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) with global research experience in crop improvement. She has led and implemented molecular breeding projects in both cereals and legumes, including the development of genetic and genomic resources in several orphan crops. Damaris is currently leading a finger millet pre-breeding project, which aims to re-introduce genetic diversity from wild relatives into the cultivated crop with the goal of improving finger millet’s resilience to environmental stresses like drought, pests and diseases.

GLF GLOBAL LANDSCAPES FORUM

The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) is the world’s largest knowledge-led platform on integrated land use, dedicated to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Climate Agreement. The Forum takes a holistic approach to create sustainable landscapes that are productive, prosperous, equitable and resilient and considers five cohesive themes of food and livelihoods, landscape restoration, rights, finance and measuring progress. It is led by the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), in collaboration with its co-founders UNEP and the World Bank and Charter Members.
