Description

Recipient of the Goldman Environmental Prize, Julio Cusurichi Palacios is an Indigenous leader of the native community El Pilar of the Peruvian Amazon. He is raising awareness about the lack of legal security that indigenous people face in their territories and their environmental problems, specifically advocating for the indigenous people who live in voluntary isolation in the Amazon. Julio Cusurichi Palacios and FENAMAD work to assure the empowerment and active participation of Indigenous Peoples in defending their rights and the conservation of their territories.
