Description
Marina Silva is a Brazilian teacher, environmentalist, and politician. Graduated in History, she is specialized in Psychopedagogy and Psychoanalytical Theory. She is Doctor Honoris Causa by the Federal University of Bahia and by the Chinese Academy of Forestry. In almost 30 years of public life, she has gained recognition inside and outside Brazil for her defense of the environment, traditional communities, and sustainable development with socio-environmental justice. He has received dozens of titles and national and international awards. In her career, she has been a city councilwoman, state deputy, and senator - always elected with record votes - and has also been minister of environment. As minister, she led the creation of the Plan to Combat Deforestation of the Amazon, which reduced deforestation rates by 80%, and created 25 million hectares of protected natural areas. She ran for the presidential elections in 2010, 2014, and 2018. She is the founder of the Rede Sustentabilidade party and is also an associate professor at the Dom Cabral Foundation.
