Description
Carlos Vicente is a forestry engineer and holds an MBA in Natural Resources Management. He has extensive experience in matters related to the Brazilian Amazon, having served as Secretary of Forests and Extractivism in the State of Acre, Director of the National Forest Program of the Ministry of Environment, Technical Advisor to former Environment Minister Marina Silva and Legislative Advisor to social and environmental issues in the Federal Senate. In his 32 years of experience, he has worked in the areas of public forestry policies and sustainable development projects, having led the creation of the first program of Payment for Environmental Services in the Amazon in 1999, in the state of Acre, and was one of the co-authors of the Prevention and Control of Deforestation in the Legal Amazon, which reduced deforestation rates by 83% between 2004 and 2012.
